Ivan Chernev from Kaufland Bulgaria is the Winner of Prof. Lachezar Tsotrorkov Award

The organizers from the Management magazine announced the acknowledged in the traditional Manager of the Year 2020 competition. The special prize For Development of the Regions named after Prof. Lachezar Tsotsorkov, PhD, was traditionally bestowed in its latest edition. The award to the winner this year, Ivan Chernev, Chairperson of the Management Board of Kaufland Bulgaria ЕООД, was bestowed by the Chairperson of the Supervisory Board of  Asarel-Medet JSC, Dimitar Tsotsorkov. This occurred at an iconic place: at the National Museum of History where a golden copy of the Treasure of Panagyurishte is glittering when its original is not available. This copy was donated by the mining company to the capital after a new museum treasure hall was constructed in  Panagyurishte where the masterpiece is hosted every year.


 “I wish great success to the competition finalists this year and may the business invest in the development of their regions since the biggest gold treasure are the people who work and dream there,” Dimitar Tsotsorkov shared while bestowing the prize.  He congratulated Ivan Chernev for the award emphasizing that it would allow both companies implement a common charity project.  

The arguments of the awarding committee made it clear that the winner of the special prize this year stands out with impressive results measured by the competition methodology developed by Deloitte.  The assessment system includes accomplishments in areas like sustainable employment, green investments, and initiatives with a significant impact for the local communities’ development.


A lady gained the winner statuette in the Manager of the Year competition for a second year in a row.  The prestigious distinction was awarded to Milena Dragiyska, CEO of Lidl Bulgaria EOOD. Her name was announced by the President, Rumen Radev, in the presence of the other competition golden top ten winners. The most interesting of this year’s ceremony will be shown in a special documentary which will be broadcasted by bTV on November 29.  

We would like to remind that Prof. Lachezar Tsotsorkov, PhD, is the second winner of the Manager of the Year award in and the special award for regional development has been constituted since 2018.
